I'm looking forward to what will hopefully be a very stitchy weekend, of both the cross and sewing kind. I need to sit down and get the fleece mats sewn for my chinchillas; I think they'll be much happier with the cozy fleece than they are with the Aspen chips in their cage. I also have a lot of motivation to finish up Ornate Butterfly, partly because it's intended as a gift, but also because I have this huge urge to start up something new.
I would very much love to hop on the sprite cross stitch bandwagon. I'm honestly terrified of trying it! I haven't done a cross stitch that wasn't purchased as a kit. I haven't the faintest clue of where to start! I mean, I know there are places like spritestitch.com with its huuuuuuge forums. But the idea of trolling some forums isn't appealing to me. I saw the tutorial there on turning sprites into patterns, but it suggests either a $50 program or a free website-based thing that doesn't seem to be around anymore. I'm pretty sure I could figure it out after I got a pattern and used the RGB to DMC values conversion chart to buy the floss; it's the getting the pattern part that I'm so unsure of. Any thoughts or suggestions on this front would be much appreciated.

ReplyDeleteThere is a book about creating manga cross stitch that comes with software (Manga Cross-Stitch: Make Your Own Graphic Art Needlework is the title, its available on Amazon I think) maybe that will help?
I actually have that book on my "to read and review" shelf and haven't gone over it fully yet.
